Abel Cárcamo ()

Born in Chile and currently living and working in Paris, France, Abel Cárcamo is a truly international young designer who has shown work in exhibitions around the world, participating in events such as Paris Design Week, Collectible Brussels, Pura Cerámica in Santiago, Chile, the Bienal latinoamericana de diseño – Matadero in Madrid, Spain, Milan Design Week in Italy and Design Days Geneva in Switzerland, to name just a few.

Traditional hands-on techniques are a key element of his approach, and his knowledge and love of materials such as wood and bronze are reflected in his seamless, sculptural designs. Inspired by the connections that can appear unexpectedly between different stylistic periods, his work turns on true craftsmanship. Unique and instantly recognisable, Abel Carcamó’s pieces may be at the forefront of contemporary design, but they also have something archetypical about them, something that gives them a timeless, symbolic quality. His minimalistic aesthetic is far from cold however - each piece has a life of its own. Pieces such as his ‘Llama’ chair-sculpture are not just collectable pieces of contemporary design - they bring joy.
