Guiseppe Ostuni ()

In 1945, Giuseppe Ostuni created Oluce, the oldest lighting design company still active today in Italy. Self-taught, he built the company’s reputation up slowly but surely, soon catching the eye of renowned figures such as Gio Ponti. His ‘Orchetta’ lamp, created in 1949, was his first major success. Giuseppe Ostuni surrounded himself with designers like Tito Agnoli and Joe Colombo, who all contributed to the company’s growth. In 1951, Oluce’s fame spread due to the company’s presence at the IX Triennale, and gained international renown by having various designs featured in Domus. Today, Ostuni’s company continues to thrive, famous for its innovative designers.
